1st off....
yes, I know.
I haven't really maintained a good pace at this whole blog writing thing.
But I have blogged a ton in my head, if that counts?
Regardless...here goes official blog entry #2.
Scene: Locker room of 24 hr fitness
(don't get too excited)
After a nice little swim training session with my husband
(who's in the midst of training for an Iron man - yep...see what I mean about the go go go thing?)
Anyway, that's another blog for another time...
I divert.
After a nice little swim training session with my husband,
I walked into the locker room and tuned in on a conversation these two "older" women
- eh, no need for quotes -
they were definitely mid 70's.
The part I tuned in on was one mentioning a hair product that made her friends hair
"just grow & thicken like crazy...".
Shoot, wish I would have walked in two minutes earlier to hear what that product was!
Oh well...
Next
the one friend
(who was suggesting the hair product & seemed to dominate most of their conversation)
looked at the other, who was obviously exhausted,
and softly said:
"I'm so proud of you."
Ugh. Sooo touching, right?
The other (aka the exhausted one) looked at her,
tilted her head and smiled
....such an appreciative,
genuine,
whole hearted smile.
As they got up & literally grabbed their walkers, I was so moved by their friendship.
I have no idea what either of their stories are.
What they've endured throughout their lives.
Whether they've known each other long or just met.
What battles they've faced, and why they were talking about hair products....
But none the less,
They inspired me.
To remember the importance and effect of good old encouragement.
While we have each other,
let's support each other.
Let's encourage each other.
Give that gift - it's free. And almost effortless.
"I'm proud of you"
That's it.
True. Genuine. Encouragement.
I'm sure they have no idea they impacted me, which made it even more impressive.
